Your reputation travels faster than you

I have hired a girl I had never met because two chiefs I trust said her name the same way. I have not hired a girl with a perfect CV because a captain said she made the mess a personality.

Do the work. Keep the confidences. Do not date the entire deck. Do not put the boat on a public grid if the house does not allow it. Assume every story will reach the next passerelle.

Be generous about other women. The industry is hard enough. A stew who only rises by cutting others will run out of boats.
