Inventory is a love language
Linen counts, glass counts, the ugly spreadsheet. This is how a boat feels expensive in week three of a charter season.
If you cannot tell me how many king sheets are on board, and how many are in laundry, you are not ready to be chief. Inventory is not a winter job. It is a weekly one.
Breakage log. Uniform sizes. Guest amenities with expiry. The candle the owner likes that is discontinued — find the next one before you are out. These are small, and they are the job.
I keep a simple sheet: item, location, par level, on board, to order. The girl who updates it without being asked is the girl I am already training to replace me one day.
