Laundry, linen, and the things guests never see
Most of the job is not the aft deck. Most of the job is a hot room and a list.
If you cannot run a laundry, you cannot be a stew. I say this kindly. Guest linen, crew linen, uniforms, the one silk shirt that cannot go in with the towels. Labelling. Stain work. A rotation so you are not still folding at midnight unless the charter made it so.
Separate like a professional. Whites, colours, delicates, guest versus crew. If you ruin a guest garment, tell the chief immediately. Hiding a burn is how people get sent home.
Stock: you should know, without opening a cupboard, whether we have enough pillowcases for a two-week charter with a late extra guest. That is interior. That is not glamorous. That is the job.
Fold to the house. Every boat has a fold. Learn it on day one and stop improvising. Consistency is what a guest's eye reads as expensive.
